SOA BIKE

left oakland mid afternoon friday, rode comfortably warm to reno then north to lakeview oregon on hwy395/ the first day of the ride with no gloves. slept in the rain until i repacked and headed for higher grounds (motel 8). woke up to high 40s temperatures, suited up, grabbed brekky at tall town cafe, thru the gloves on and took off down hwy 140 with my nose pointed towards k-falls oregon. stopped for gas in bly oregon and jawed at the attendant about jobs, texas, and dogs while i warmed my hands on a hot cup of water i downed one sip at a time. 50 more miles to k-falls, and made a few phone calls from the skatepark to catch up with folks. let some loved ones know i was alright. key on, bike running, i turned the bars south down hwy 97 and came in around the backside of mt shasta. totally insane views for about 90 minutes of the mountain shrouded in black and white cumulus clouds. the day was looking worse than yesterday and the clouds were lookin something fierce. the temps dipped into the low low 60s thru the high planes and valleys that bog the area. in thru weed california where i grabbed a 4 dollar pizza pie. struck up some conversation with other travelers about what it was lookin like on down south and they said rain, rain, rain... anyone else familiar with interstate 5 between weed and redding? its all high speed freeway curves both up and down hill thru the mountains and it was wet... time to ride the strip of dry patches in the slow lane when present.. now its in the upper 50s and its not lookin to good. im cold and im wet which makes me colder than i should be. you know the drill. made it to redding and contuinued down the 5 west of sacramento and back over to oakland... home before 630 tonight in time to get dinner at the corner store, ice cream snickers and to open the mail... fml...
